2013 Cultural Exchange

A very tired group of sixteen adults from Sugito landed in Perth on October 30th, 24 hours after they had left Sugito.  From the airport they travelled to Busselton, stopping of at the Peel Zoo near Pinjarra to meet kangaroos and koalas.  Over the next ten days they visited Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse at Augusta, the Shearing Shed, Vasse Primary school where they folded origami with the year 5 students, Busselton Sea Rescue where they enjoyed a boat ride on the Bay and around the jetty, the jetty train and underwater observatory, Busselton bowling club where they learnt the fundamentals of the game and had a try.  For many the highlight of the trip was a day at the Bunbury Racecource for the Melbourne Cup - a very unique and successful  (for most) Australian experience

As well as being busy during the week when they also enjoyed various activities on the weekend with their hosts, like camping at Alexander Bridge, a trip to Perth, wineries, and outings to other South West towns and attractions.

During the visit their was also a short re-dedication ceremony for the re- opening of the Japanese Friendship Garden outside the town library.
