Cultural, Sporting and Special Interest Exchanges
Whilst there are no regular exchanges of this type,from time to time one off Cultural and Sporting exchanges are organised as part of the Sister City Relationship.
In the past these have included Art Exhibitions, visits from Musical groups and athletes.
2014 - Sugito athletes compete in the Sunsmart Ironman 70.3
Three athletes from Sugito travelled to Busselton to compete in the 70.3 Ironman on May 2nd. The Mayor of Sugito, his wife and the International Relations Officer from Sugito also accompanied the group.
2006 - Art Exhibition
In November 2006 an exhibition of local artwork travelled to Sugito, as part of the celebrations for the Tenth Anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship between Sugito and Busselton. The exhibition, included drawings, paintings and photographs, comprised of 45 artworks from local artists and photographers, and was collected and coordinated by Cr. Jane Holland for the Shire of Busselton Sister City Association. It was received well in Sugito and an exchange exhibition from Sugito was discussed with Sugito's International Association and the Busselton Sister City Committee.
2004 - Suginiko Wind Band
The Suginiko Wind Band consisted of 16 members of a larger concert band, had a truly Australian experience when they visited Busselton in December 2004. While enjoying a BBQ at Meelup beach they saw whales frolicking in the Bay, visited the Underwater Observatory and joined the Busselton Brass Band to play at the Carols by Candelight. The women were a spectacular sight on stage in their kimonos.
2003 - Busselton Brass band in Sugito
In 2003 the Shire of Busselton Brass Band travelled to Sugito and enjoyed a huge 10 day long musical experience, culminating in a combined concert at the Kasukabe Concert Hall with the Suginiko Concert Band. Another highlight was a Saturday afternoon concert at the specially constructed sound shell at Aguri Park in Sugito.
